KSG Armory Halcyon Tabletop Review

KSG Armory Halcyon Holster

For the Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 Compact Optics Ready I opted to give the KSG Armory Halcyon a go with the Dark Star Gear Dark Wing and Discreet Carry Concepts Monoblock Clip… so to a certain extent I’m getting to do a review on not only KSG’s holster, but the Dark Wing and Monoblock clip as well. Since I’ve had very limited time with the holster, remember that everything in this is subject to change at the end of the review process.

At JustPews Tabletop Reviews are introductions to new products with our initial thoughts. These are not full on reviews; please keep that in mind. These posts will also be exclusive to the website only.

Backside KSG Armory Halcyon

All around the edges on the Halcyon are smooth and there isn’t much in terms of excess material, but there is a nice little lip at the bottom to help prevent anything from pushing the firearm up & out (I didn’t think of that as being a potential issue).

As far as the attachments to the holster go… the Discreet Carry Concepts Monoblock is a million times better than FOMI clips (the industry standard plastic clip) and can even be used underneath a belt if you’re trying to be…well… discreet. I will admit though that I don’t like the Monoblock nearly as much (right now at least) as a regular Pul-Dot-Loop.

The Dark Star Gear Dark Wing actually feels like it’s doing something and isn’t just there along for the ride. Other “claws” I’ve used either did so little it didn’t matter, or just made the holster more uncomfortable to wear due to how much they stuck out to the side. While it isn’t as comfortable as Tenicor’s camming bar, the Dark Wing definitely improves concealment.

Anyway, back to the holster. The Halcyon offers a lot of a lot of attachment holes on it so you can, not only use your favorite attachment, but so you can put it where you need it for comfortability. And since there’s holes going vertically along the holster (one strip) you’re able to use a regular Discreet Carry Concepts clip if you so choose.

Smiley Face KSG Armory

I am thinking heavily about adding on a foam wedge to the Halcyon, but I want to give it some more time before I actually go ahead and do that just to make sure it isn’t the acclimation aches to the holster. That aside, the KSG Halcyon seems to be a very well made and fairly comfortable holster to look at.

Fun Fact: KSG stands for Knowledge. Skill. Gear.
Kinda goes along well with Educated. Defensive. Carry.
